from New Noise magazine Dec 2020
We are always in the presence of a noise rock which caresses the purist in the grain, offering angular, dissonant and dissonant. Intensity remains for the most part the star around which the instrumentation revolves, but the latter also knows how to demonstrate a few times of measure and restraint during a few moments of calm. On the vocal level, the feverish performance of Sasha Andrès (Heliogabale as a reminder) is in tune with this sonic maelstrom and shows a great variety, her singing going from declaration to complaint with sometimes a sense of theatricality. made about. For its second lap, A Shape has also opened its doors to some famous names from the scene of the French indie scene since the album is mastered by Nicolas Dick from Kill The Thrill and which we find on the song "Echoes" the guitarist of Heliogabale, Philippe Thiphaine; But the convive which takes the lion's share here is Prohibition's Quentin Rollet present with its saxophones and a Korg Monotron throughout the second half of the record. His participation gives the pieces an extra darkness and accentuates the free aspect of music that is already quite unpredictable at its core, often unsettling but always captivating. For the second time, A Shape convinces and retains its status as a precious ambassador of a musical genre that we continue to cherish".
From Rolling Stone magazine Nov 2020
After a break away from the radars, Sasha Andrès comes back with A Shape and (already this second album) whose propros resumes more or less at the place where the previous group left it : hardcore, unstructured, noise music, (« Crave », « Random Error ») but much heavier (« Black Mamba », « Echoes »). The times have changed and this affects the artists and their expressions. Sasha, who expressed the anguish of the last century, adds a real violence, embodied in the passage of "Morning Faces" "To" Hush. "It is as if Sonic Youth had met Kill The Thrill, of which Nicolas Dick also mastered the album. If we add Quentin Rollet's guest saxophone (Prohibition, Mendelson, Nurse with wound) we have an idea of the somewhat masochistic pleasure that there is to enter this album. The world of noise is small but it is expressive and strong."
